Overview

Earn It ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how the Earn It iOS application collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Earn It, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We believe in minimal data collection. We collect only what is absolutely necessary to provide the core functionality of the app, and we never sell your personal data to third parties.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Apple Health / HealthKit data: Step count and walking/running distance to verify walking habits. This data is accessed read-only with your explicit permission and is never transmitted off your device.
  • Camera access (on-device only): Live camera feed for push-up and squat detection. All pose estimation processing occurs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework. No video frames are recorded, stored, or uploaded.
  • Touch Grass photos: When you select the "Touch Grass" habit, a single photo is captured and sent to our AI verification service (powered by OpenAI) solely to confirm you are outdoors. The photo is processed immediately and is not stored on our servers or by OpenAI beyond the processing request.
  • Subscription and purchase data: In-app purchase receipts are validated through Apple's StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment card information.
  • Anonymous usage analytics: Aggregated, non-identifiable crash reports and feature usage statistics (e.g., which habit types are most popular) may be collected to improve the app. This data cannot be linked to you personally.

How We Use Your Information

  • To verify completion of healthy habits and unlock selected apps.
  • To sync your step count and activity data from Apple Health.
  • To validate your App Store subscription status.
  • To improve app performance and fix bugs using anonymous crash reports.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the Earn It service.

On-Device Processing

Push-up and squat detection is performed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework and Core ML. Your camera feed is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. No video is recorded or saved at any point.

Step counting and walking verification uses data already present in Apple Health, which is managed entirely by Apple on your device. We request read-only access with your explicit consent.

Touch Grass Photo Verification

The "Touch Grass" habit requires you to take a photo outside. This photo is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to OpenAI's image analysis API solely to verify the presence of an outdoor environment. The photo is:

  • Transmitted securely via HTTPS with end-to-end encryption.
  • Processed by OpenAI only for the purpose of verification.
  • Not stored on Earn It servers after the verification response is received.
  • Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy during processing.

We do not store, analyze beyond verification, or share Touch Grass photos for any other purpose.

Apple Screen Time & FamilyControls

Earn It uses Apple's FamilyControls framework and Screen Time API to enforce app blocking. This integration is managed by Apple's operating system. We do not have access to which specific apps are installed on your device beyond the blocking configuration you set within Earn It. Your Screen Time data remains within Apple's ecosystem.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only:

  • With OpenAI, solely for Touch Grass photo verification as described above.
  • With Apple, as necessary to process in-app purchases via StoreKit.
  • When required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Earn It, our users, or others.

Data Retention

Because we collect minimal data, most information processed by Earn It never leaves your device. Touch Grass photos are deleted from our systems immediately after the verification response is sent. Anonymous analytics data is retained in aggregated form and cannot be linked back to individual users.

Children's Privacy

Earn It is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
